Nancy, Thank you for your information. I'm also pleased to see adjustments being made in the IkeepSafe materials and I think they do a good job, especially with younger children. I would love if you would take a look at the little guide we've put together. I know it needs regular updating but any feedback or criticism you could provide is always appreciated. It's our downloadable "Family Online Safety Guide" available from www.norton.com/familyresource. I'm going to do a refresh this summer so I have time to incorporate your feedback.
Thanks!

Thanks very much for your review. Let me know if there are any curriculums out there you feel are much better.

Luke Gilkerson

Nancy's note: The problem is that right now so much that is out there is based on older understandings. Better than I-Safe's basic approach - but still in need of updating to meet the new realities of online use and the new research insight. For younger students, CyberSmart is pretty good, but needs to be updated. I like some of NetSmartz's materials, but some are not based on research insight and not comprehensive given their organization's overall mission. IKeepSafe is appropriately shifting their approach, but focuses more on younger students. This is all in flux right now. I like the materials you can find on the ConnectSafely site best, but this is not really curriculum. By next fall, there should be better choices. I am also working on some materials.

Hi Nancy,

Sad that an organisation purporting to - and heavily sponsored by a government in order to - educate children and teens to the safe and honest use of the internet should resort to such an imposture to peddle its product. I hope you catch the person/s /organisation/s involved, though they probably used a bunch of proxies to cover their backside/s.

I have linked to your review in the heeadlines of The Digital Divide Network. See http://www.digitaldivide.net/news/view.php?HeadlineID=1676 .

Nancy's note. I have no knowledge that this is an activity approved or encouraged by I-Safe. My presumption, or hope, is that this is not.

Nancy,
I've read a lot of your posts online and they are all good... Now I question which ones are your's. That's really terrible and I hope you can slowly correct the issues. I will help you and try to send links to stuff where I see your name - so you can verify.

Nancy's note. This is actually pretty easy. If I am ever critical of something, I will not simply slam it. I will provide the evidence of my concern and my rationale. I only criticize in an effort to improve efforts.
